Can’t find a picture with a transparent background? Use PowerPoint or Word to remove the background.
If you are searching for a picture that does not have a transparent background you can remove the background in PowerPoint or Word.
- Double click a picture. The Picture Tools ribbon will appear.
- Select the Format tab.
- Select Remove Background.
- Select Mark Areas to Keep/Remove and scribble the areas you want to keep/remove.
- Areas colored in pink will be removed.
- Select Keep Changes to remove the background!
Ideas for implementation:
- Removing backgrounds or parts of pictures allows you to layer images without big blocks of color behind them. This makes your pictures, documents, and slides look more professional.
- If you are creating a sorting activity within PowerPoint or Word (or OneNote, copy and paste the picture into a Page) students can slide your new, beautiful images around.
